Mianyang and the City of Casey Signs the Memorandum of Understanding on Establishing a Friendly Cooperation Relationship

On April 8th, Mianyang and the City of Casey of Australia signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Establishing a Friendly Cooperation Relationship. Zhao Yingchun, deputy mayor of Mianyang Municipal Government, and Sam Aziz, honorary mayor of the City of Casey, Australia attended the signing ceremony.

According to the Joint Communiqu¨¦ on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and Australia, Mianyang and the City of Casey signed this memorandum through friendly consultations. Both sides agreed to carry out exchanges and cooperation in the fields of science and technology, economy and trade, sport, agriculture, education, and tourism based on the principle of equality and mutual benefits. Both cities will strengthen cooperation in governmental and non-governmental fields. The relevant departments of both cities will maintain contact, exchange information of mutual concern and discuss practical cooperation projects. The signing of the memorandum will promote bilateral development and enhance the friendship and mutual understanding between the China and Australia, which will lay a solid foundation for signing an agreement to establish the sister city relationship in the future.

After the ceremony, the Management Committee of the Science and Innovation Pak also signed the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement for Australian Biotechnology Transformation Platform with Australia-China Science and Technology Innovation Association. The delegates from the City of Casey also visited the exhibition hall of the China Science and Technology City (Mianyang) and had a discussion with relevant departments such as Mianyang Science and Technology & Intellectual Property Bureau during their visit in Mianyang.

Yan Jun, deputy secretary-general of the municipal government, officials from the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Mianyang Municipality and the management committee of the Science and Innovation Park attended the signing ceremony.
