Officials from the Workshop for the AIDS Prevention in African Countries Visit Mianyang

Recently, 19 officials and technicians responsible for the national AIDS prevention from 6 English-speaking countries in Africa visited Mianyang to learn more about AIDS prevention.

They paid a visit to Sichuan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the health center in Qingyitown, Xiangchengdistrict. They listened to the report on the AIDS prevention and learned more about the AIDS prevention model in colleges and universities, volunteers' participation in AIDS prevention, AIDS prevention in the health center in the towns and countys, follow-up management of the HIV affected people and psychological care for them to understand more about the AIDS prevention work.

In the meeting, officials responsible for the municipal health and family planning commission introduced the AIDS prevention work and the effective results in Mianyang. Both parties communicate and exchange their opinions on the traditional Chinese and western medicine treatment and AIDS prevention among men who have sex with men.

The workshop for the National AIDS Prevention in African countries is an aid projects that Mianyang government establishes for developing countries. It aims to strengthen the communication on medical and health areas between China and Africa to improve the quality of AIDS prevention services in African countries. Officials from the African countries spoke highly of the AIDS prevention mechanism including comprehensive AIDS prevention, publicity activities on AIDS prevention among young people and students, follow-up management of HIV-infected people and treatment.
